This is a little spread I devised to gain more insight into a particular court card/person that might keep cropping up. Firstly you should pull the court card in question and place it in the center as per the diagram above. Secondly (this bit’s optional), pull a court card that you feel represents you and place it in the top far left corner.

The idea here is to place cards above below and either side of the court card in the center to try and glean the circumstance or involvement this person has with you and why.

Position 1 – The surface

The card I place here should give me clues to general atmosphere and dynamics between the person in the center and the person up the the left corner.

Position 2 -Recent events

This card will describe any recent events that have occurred between the two in question.

Position 3 – History

Here we can get to the nitty gritty and find out what past issues have brought about the current situation.

Position 4 – Values

What is this this person made of? Here we can gain insight to their principles; what is important to to the individual?

Position 5, 6 & 7 - What’s on their mind?

This card will give some indication to the person’s motives and intentions. Whatever shows here should give a hint to what is most on their mind.

Position 8, 9 & 10 - Final Outcome

Here we find out how the situation with this person will pan out. Whatever you see here is to come!

Don’t be afraid to add as many more cards as you feel necessary. There are no rules to how you lay your cards; sometimes I start with these 10 cards and then go on to lay a further 10 all over the place until the spread isn’t even recognisable any more.

Past – This card describes past events, these events may still have an influence on our present situation.

Present – The second card drawn describes the present situation, the focus of the seeker’s attention.

Future – This card reflects how the present situation will unfold in the near future.

1. Present Situation – The first card drawn represents the current situation the client finds themselves in.This card is sometimes called the significator.
2. Obstacles - The second card drawn crosses the present situation, this represents that which crosses the seeker or an obstacle.
3. Possible Outcome – The card placed here represents the situation as seen from above. It can reflect how things ‘seem’ at that time.
4. Heart of the Matter – The third card drawn describes the foundation of the situation at hand; how things really are. Often this card contradicts the card in position 3.
5. Past Influences – This card reflects events in the recent past and can describe where the present situation derived from.
6. Future Influences – The card placed here can give an indication of how present influences will evolve in the near future.
7. Present Situation – The seventh card drawn is an extension of the first card and gives further insight into how the situation will unfold.
8. Influence of Others – This card will give us insight into the thoughts and views of others in and around the situation.
9. Inner Emotions – The ninth card drawn describes our thoughts and feelings, and our hopes and fears.
10. Final Outcome – This represents the outcome of the situation currently being faced.
